The Social Democratic Party (SDP) wishes to categorically reaffirm to the general public, members of the Party, the media, and all stakeholders that Engr. David Bankole was the duly recognized and only Governorship Candidate of the Social Democratic Party in the just concluded Ekiti State Governorship Election.
The Party is compelled to make this clarification following developments at Court One of the Ekiti State Governorship Election Tribunal today, where Amb. Isaac Adedayo Alade reportedly appeared and laid claim to the Governorship candidacy of the Social Democratic Party.
For the avoidance of doubt, the SDP maintains that Engr. David Bankole remains the Party’s legitimate candidate, as reflected in the official list of candidates published for the just-concluded Ekiti State Governorship Election.
The Party therefore urges its members, supporters, the electorate, the media, and the general public not to be misled by any contrary claim or representation purporting to confer SDP Governorship candidacy on any other individual.
The official publication of candidates, which is attached to this statement, provides documentary evidence of the candidate recognized and presented under the platform of the Social Democratic Party.
The SDP remains committed to the rule of law, due process, and the protection of the integrity of its electoral mandate. No individual can assume or appropriate the identity, platform, or candidacy of the Party outside the established legal and constitutional processes of the SDP and the applicable electoral framework.
We therefore call on all relevant authorities, stakeholders, and members of the public to rely on official records and verifiable documents, rather than claims made by individuals seeking to create confusion about the Party’s candidate.
The position of the Social Democratic Party is clear: Engr. David Bankole is the SDP Governorship Candidate.
